It’s impossible for one person or one group to fight every pressing justice issue happening in the world at once. And honestly, we shouldn’t try! To do so, would make it impossible to do effective work on any issue. So how do we focus on particular issues with a collective liberation mindset? Here are some good questions to ask yourself.

Collective Liberation Questions To Ask:
Who else is impacted by this issue?
Who or what systems are the oppressors? Who benefits from this oppression?
How might people be impacted by this issue differently than I or my community is?
What is my privilege with regards to this issue or others impacted by it?
If I’m choosing to not focus on other issues, why? What cultural, political, or personal biases might be a part of that decision? How might these biases be negatively affecting my liberation work?
If I was previously unaware of other issues, why? What cultural, political, or personal biases might be a part of that ignorance? How might these biases be negatively affecting my liberation work?
How might the actions I take toward this issue impact other marginalized or oppressed people? How can I build accountability for those impacts into my work?
How can I support or collaborate with others doing important work, in ways that sustain the important work I’m doing?
