We’re doing something a little different this month. Instead of looking at one larger issue and how it relates to Black liberation, we’re going to take this month to focus on some of the primary aspects of Collective Liberation.

We’re starting with one of the most important ideas to Collective Liberation: Abolition.

To put it plainly: without abolition and abolitionist principles, we can’t get free.

This post is a basic introduction to Abolitionism and why it is so important. And we’ll have more posts here and on social media this coming week talking more about it. Coming up we’ll be discussing how carceral practices and carceral mentality threatens our movements and our relationships; and we’ll be discussing the future that abolitionists want, and what we can do right now to get there.

I’ll also be answering your questions about abolition, so now is your chance to ask! Leave your questions in the comments below and I’ll add them to a Q & A post and resources.

Later this month we’ll be discussing other vital collective liberation topics like conflict resolution, boycotts & strikes, and revolution vs harm reduction, so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out - and share these posts with a friend who is looking to deepen their collective liberation work!
